Derwent Charcoal 6 Tin

The Derwent charcoal pencils range combines the effect of charcoal with the control and reduced mess of a pencil. Charcoal particles are mixed with clays and encased in wood to produce a rich, smoothly textured pencil with all the character of charcoal in an easy to use form.

A Wide Tonal Range :
Available in three grades; light, medium and dark, the pencils offer a wide tonal range from the deepest of blacks to the lightest of greys. The set also contains a white tinted charcoal pencil, made from charcoal particles and a small amount of colour pigment, suitable for highlights and lighter areas of work.

Intense Lines and Dark Moody Drawings
Suitable for intense lines and dark moody drawings, the application is smooth and blends easily yet retains the grainy texture associated with the charcoal medium. Smudging the charcoal with fingers or a Derwent paper stump allows for softer, smoother tones to be created. Once a sketch is down on paper the pencils can be sharpened to a fine point to add the final detail.

The pencils rounded barrel is suitable for broad, sweeping strokes and they are easy to sharpen and break resistant for long periods of use. They can be used separately or combined with the colours of the tinted charcoal range or with the Derwent compressed charcoal and XL charcoal blocks for a wider range of creative possibilities.
